Using Safari 4 in Snow Leopard is a normal thing for me and many other people, but I still wish there was another browser for me to use besides Firefox that is visually appealing. I got my hands on the Developer Release Candidate at this link: http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/eula_dev.html?dl=mac. This release seems pretty stable, and the importing wizard was very simple to use to transfer your settings from Safari or Firefox. The appearance of Chrome is different in that it has the internet tabs at the top of the browser window as Safari 4 Beta had before they removed it in the final release of Safari 4. Chrome is not leaps and bounds ahead of Safari but does include some interesting things that Safari doesn’t have. When a tab in Safari freezes, the entire application fails and not just that tab. Google Chrome is different in that it fixes that problem to where a tab fails and just that tab does not the entire application. Other features such as theme selection and an incognito mode. Incognito mode allows you to have an entire window open to allow different pages open that don’t collect cookies or browsing history. Overall I’m very impressed with this application. When this application is released later this year, I will be switching to Chrome.
